Accessibility Statement
Good design should work for people, not just portfolios. We aim for WCAG 2.2 Level AA on cmykink.io. We're not done. Accessibility is ongoing, not a finished project. But we publish what we're doing, what's working, and what isn't. If you hit a barrier, tell us at hello@cmykink.io. We respond within 5 business days.
01 Our commitment
We design and maintain cmykink.io to be usable by as many people as possible — including people using screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, voice control, or any other assistive technology. We treat accessibility as part of the work, not a checklist we run at the end.
02 The standard we target
We aim to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, published by the W3C in October 2023. We do not claim full conformance. We claim active alignment, ongoing audit, and a feedback path to fix what we miss.
03 What we do
- Semantic HTML structure with proper heading hierarchy.
- Keyboard-accessible navigation for everything we control.
- Visible focus indicators on interactive elements.
- Readable typography with adequate size, line height, and contrast.
- Responsive layouts that work down to mobile and up to wide screens.
- Color contrast ratios meeting or exceeding 4.5:1 for body text.
- Descriptive alternative text for meaningful images.
- Accessible form labels and error messages.
- Reduced-motion support: if your operating system asks for less motion, we provide it.
- Skip-to-content links.
- Compatibility with current versions of NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver as we test.
04 What we avoid
- Flashing or seizure-triggering content.
- Hover-only interactions that exclude keyboard users.
- Auto-playing audio or video with sound.
- Unreadable low-contrast text.
- Navigation that depends on color alone to convey meaning.
05 Motion and visual design
CMYK Ink is an editorial brand with strong visual identity, including animation. We treat motion as an accessibility decision. Animations respect the "prefers-reduced-motion" system setting, content remains readable without animation, and we avoid disorienting or rapid-flash effects.
06 Third-party content
Parts of the site may include third-party tools or embeds. We pick accessible options when they exist. If a specific embed is causing you a barrier, tell us. We may be able to provide alternative access.
07 Where we know we fall short
This section will be populated with specific known gaps once the site is audited at launch.
08 Feedback and assistance
If you encounter an accessibility barrier on cmykink.io, or you need content provided in an alternative format, contact us:
- Email: hello@cmykink.io (subject line: "Accessibility").
- Phone: 480-216-4319.
When you contact us, it helps if you can include the page or feature involved (a URL is ideal), the nature of the barrier, and the device, browser, and assistive technology you're using. We respond within 5 business days.
09 Ongoing work
Accessibility is not a milestone we hit and forget. We review periodically, especially after site updates, and we treat real-world feedback as the most valuable input we get.
10 Formal complaints
If our response doesn't resolve your concern, you may also file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), or with the relevant authority in your jurisdiction.
Send them to hello@cmykink.io. We answer.
